Our Local MP Niki Ashton spoke with Arctic Radio News and stated that its a priority for her to speak out on behalf of our region and address the critical issues that we continue to face once parliament resumes.

Ashton says that healthcare, housing, and the need to protect and create good jobs are three important areas that she plans to bring attention to.

In order to solve ongoing issues such as boil water advisories and the housing crisis in Northern communities Ashton believes that sustained federal investment for infrastructure, water treatment plants, and housing is what’s needed to solve these problems.

Despite the NDP’s losing seats in this year’s election Ashton is confident that the NDPs can still put pressure on Justin Trudeau and the Federal Liberals to show that they are addressing these issues that Northern communities face.

Ashton believes that a lot more can be accomplished now that the Liberals hold a minority Government.
