Recreational Cannabis has been legal in Canada now for a year and Opaskwayak Cree Nation has made lots of investments in the new industry and they are now officially the largest legal cannabis holder in the world.

When they made their first investment with META it was the first time that a first nation became a majority share holder of a publically traded company.

Making investments in the cannabis industry has put OCN in a strong financial position and has helped the community to pay off some debts and make investments into other areas such as renovations to houses and repairs to buildings.

With about 2.5 Million dollars remaining, a strategic planning exercise is expected to be held in November to determine the needs of the community and how the money should be used.
