Local MP Niki Ashton spoke to Arctic Radio News recently to talk about the upcoming election and plans she has for the future.

Ashton says that we haven’t seen positive changes in regions like ours from the federal liberals, people continue to struggle, jobs have been lost, and there continues to be a lack of infrastructure investment in our area as well. These are issues she is hoping to fix.

When asked about Cyara Bird and Judy Klassen, two indigenous candidates running for our riding Ashton stated that it’s important to have people from all backgrounds including indigenous peoples and woman in particular to be represented in parliament as its makes our democratic process more vibrant.

She went on to say that she looks forward to visiting Northern Manitoba Communities during the summer months. She is planning to visit The Pas and OCN later this week.
