Donna Carriere of Cross Lake has been named the new executive director of indigenous initiatives and engagement at UCN.

According to UCN president and Vice Chancellor Doug Lauvstad She will be responsible for working with the learning council and to help ensure that academic and training activities reflect UCN’s indigenous context, and will help to ensure that UCN’s strategic plans, polices, and processes have a foundation in indigenous values and principles that incorporates input from indigenous peoples and communities in the north.

Lauvstad stated in a news release that he is happy that Carriere accepted this senior leadership position and she brings executive level skills and experience and Carriere says she looks forward to taking on this new role.

Carriere was previously vice president of Community Based Services.
