Cost of Living Expected to Go Up in Manitoba This Year

You’ll probably notice that life will be a bit more expensive here in Manitoba now that it’s 2019.

The federal carbon tax will impact gas, diesel and natural gas come April first, which will mean an increase at the pumps of just over four cents.

The cost of insuring your car or truck will also go up in March, when Manitoba Public Insurance’s one point eight percent increase takes effect.

Landlords will also be able to up your rent even more this year, as they are now allowed to raise your rate by just over two percent, up almost a full percentage point from last year.

Manitoba Hydro has also applied for a rate increase, which if approved would come into play in April.
