Amanda Lathlin recently attended Wednesday night’s town council meeting to request that The Town of The Pas put a bylaw in place for reduced speed school zone sings for the community. Having reduced speed zones for schools would require motorists to drive in these zones at no more the thirty kilometers an hour.
Lathlin says that Opaskwayak Cree Nation and Cranberry Portage already have these signs in place and she would like to work together with Manitoba Infrastructure and mayor and council to get these signs put in place for the safety of children.
Mayor Herb Jacques said that they will discuss the possibility of reduced speed zones at the next committee of the whole meeting in the New Year.
