Ice Safety Tips From The Lifesaving Society of Manitoba

Lifesaving Society of Manitoba of some important ice safety tips for you this winter.

 

If you’re in a vehicle keep your windows down, keep the radio off, drive slowly, and be prepared to exit the vehicle in a hurry.

 

If you’re walking on the ice, it needs to be at least 4 inches thick, if you’re on a snowmobile the ice needs to be least 5 inches thick, if you plan to drive a car on the ice it needs to be between 8 and 12 inches, and for larger vehicle such as pickup trucks there needs to be 12 to 15 inches of hard clear thick ice.
