Public Hearing Held for The Rezoning of The Guy Hall

A public hearing was held at the The Town of The Pas Municipal Office on Wednesday night regarding the proposal to rezone the Guy Hall. The Pas mayor Jim Scott told Arctic Radio news that there is an individual in the community that has rented the space from the owners of the Catholic Church and the individual wants to change the zoning to commercial central to accommodate a retail space in the building. There were no real concerns from the public on this matter but Mayor Scott says that the entrance and exit of the Guy Halls parking lot can be hazardous.

The entrance and exit of the parking lot is hazardous because it is an extremely high traffic location. People that exit the parking lot and head north on Highway 10 could cause traffic to get backed up. There were no concerns from the public on this matter but the town is looking at safer options for entering and exiting the property.

The town is expected to move forward with a resolution for this application at a future council meeting and if the resolution is passed a traffic study may be required at the expense of the individual that submitted the application and there would also be a change in how the property is taxed.
