Local MP Niki Ashton held a live question and answer session on Facebook earlier this morning regarding the one year anniversary of The Railway to Churchill being shut down.
The shut down has had some negative repercussions from an increase in food prices in Churchill to jobs losses.
Ashton stated that the federal government needs to step in and get the railline up and running and to get Omnitrax out of Canada feeling that the American company does not care about the north and that the port and railline should be taken back.
Ashton is encouraging everyone to take a survey to let her and the NDP party know their priorities for the north. The survey can be found on nikiashton.ndp.ca. The video of this mornings livestream can be found on Ashton's facebook page.
