The Council for the RM of Kelsey has scheduled a public hearing regarding a proposal for a service levy for the cost of road maintenance in The RM.
According to a document from The RM of Kelsey, Council has proposed to move the cost from their Mill Rate and to move the cost into a situation where it is equally charged in all roles in the community. This means that everyone in The RM would be charged an equal amount for road maintenance such as snow plowing, and grading.
The total amount of the service levy is four-hundred thousand dollars of costs associated with road maintenance and transportation services. The special service levy is proposed to cost $249 dollars per parcel of land for all municipal rolls. People are invited to voice their concerns about this new levy at the public hearing which will take place on February 1st at 264 Fischer Ave in The Pas at 6PM.
