Niki Ashton Supports Call To Remove Honorary Doctorate from Omnitrax Owner

Local NDP MP Niki Ashton is supporting the call from Churchill residents to have an Honorary Doctorate removed from Omnitrax owner Pat Broe in the wake of the recent indications that his company is unwilling to adhere to the federal governments directive to repair the rail line.

Ashton stated in a press release that his company has shown nothing but disrespect to the people of Northern Manitoba. She added that people of Churchill and our North have suffered enough due to Pat Broe’s actions and that his approach is in direct contradiction to the statements made by the University of Winnipeg at the time of the honorary award.

The honorary doctorate was granted to Broe in recognition of his “unique vision and role in the development of Manitoba’s North”.
