A new fire bylaw for The Town of The Pas passed its first reading at Monday night’s council meeting. 

Mayor Jim Scott says, "We previously refered to our firefighters as volunteers that is not factual they are paid employees. We removed the word volunteer from the bylaw to clean up the language and make it valid."

The bylaw must go through two more readings before it gets enacted. You can find out more about the bylaw on the towns website: townofthepas.ca
