A UCN Instructor is a recipient of the provinces highest teaching award. Ms. Rachel Mitchell is one of eight recipients for Manitoba’s Celebration of Excellence in Teaching 2014-2015 Minister Awards. Manitoba’s Minister of Education and Advanced Learning James Allum, made the announcement saying her “demonstration of leadership through innovative ways of delivering the curriculum, the contagious enthusiasm for learning she shares with her students and the time devoted well beyond the regular school day”. Ms. Mitchell was nominated by her students and peers at UCN's Adult Learning Centre in Thompson campus, where she has been an instructor for 6 years. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding educators who work tirelessly to inspire their students and instill a lifelong love of learning.
