Right now there is an extreme shortage in skilled trades in Northern Manitoba. With the help of a few organizations they hope to put more people in more high paid highly skilled jobs. Doug Lauvstad the Executive Director of the Northern Manitoba Sector Council encourages people to take a trade. MBCI and UCN have been partnering allowing students to take trades and technologies courses for dual credits while in their final years of High School. Some ways to get involved in a trade are to start work as a labourer, contact with UCN or step directly into work with a company that hires trades people.
