A new program proposed by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business could help small businesses attract new employees.
Called the “Introduction to Canada Visa”, the program would help businesses attract and retain workers when Canadian employees could not be found. Elliot Sims from the CFIB explained that Canadian small business owners are still facing a shortage of workers, because the Temporary Foreign Workers program is now harder to access and limits the industries where workers can be employed He says The Introduction to Visa Program, is an alternative to the Temporary Foreign Workers program that is now off-limits to businesses in the restaurant, hotel and hospitality industries.
CFIB has not received a response from the government yet on their proposal.
