Mayor of The Pas says CFIB report is flawed

The Pas Mayor, says CFIB report is flawed.

The recent Canadian Federation of Independent Business Report shows the Town of The Pas had an operating spending per capita increase at 16 percent while population growth remained stagnant over a 5 year period from 2008 through 2012.

Mayor of The Pas Alan McLachlan (Mc Locklin) says the report is quote, “flawed, flawed, flawed” and explains that the CFIB report is only based on the amount of money spent, and does not consider the additions and affects of things like the new Wellness Centre in 2009.

He said that without research the report is basically useless.

McLachlan added that while northern communities are faced with continued loss of population to cottage and rural areas, The Pas is also a service center to those people and that is an added expense to the town as well.
