The OCN Storm went 1–1 over the weekend against the always-tough NCN Flames.
Saturday’s matchup was pure domination from start to finish, as the Storm defeated the Flames 13–0. It’s worth noting that Shaden Duliak and Drew Peters each recorded hat tricks, while goaltender Logan Grenier earned his second shutout of the season.
Sunday’s game, however, told a much different story. NCN was able to come back from a one-goal deficit in the third period and steal the win in overtime. The contest was a true back-and-forth affair, as every time the Storm found the back of the net, the Flames responded to keep things close.
Heading into the final frame, OCN held a 5–4 lead, but Cayden Nycheporak tied the game in the early stages of the third period to force overtime. In the extra frame, Dawson Osborne scored the game-winner for NCN. With the victory, the Flames snapped a seven-game losing streak and also ended OCN’s five-game winning streak.
Despite the split, the Storm walked away with three of a possible four points and will now turn their full attention to this upcoming weekend’s home slate against the Peguis Juniors.
