It was another strong weekend of high school basketball action for all four teams at MBCI.

Starting with the JV girls, who were in Neepawa, the squad fell to both the Clippers and the Nighthawks in bracket play. That set them up for the fifth-place game, where they unfortunately came up just short in a nail-biter, falling 37–36 to the host Tigers.

The JV boys were in Gimli competing in their weekend tournament. After a solid win over the Edward Schreyer Barons in bracket play, the boys dropped their next two games against the Frontier Raiders and Gabrielle-Roy Les Roys, finishing fourth overall.

Two MBCI teams were able to bring home hardware. The SV girls captured gold after defeating Swan Valley Regional Secondary School in the championship game of the Swan Valley Co-op Varsity Girls Classic.

The SV boys were in Lorette for their tournament and put together an impressive run. After back-to-back wins over the Sabres and Celtics, the Spartans defeated the Lord Selkirk Royals 91–75 in the gold medal game.

Three of the four teams will be back in action this weekend. The JV girls head to Flin Flon for the Zone 11 Championship Tournament, the SV boys will be in Neepawa, and the SV girls travel to Warren.
