The Storm picked up their first pair of wins of 2026 this past weekend against the struggling Cross Lake Islanders.
Saturday’s matchup saw OCN forward Jacey Melnyk open the scoring with his lone first-period goal. Cross Lake’s Sydney Roberts tied things up early in the second, but the Storm quickly responded by rattling off four straight goals to build a commanding 5–1 lead.
In the final frame, Jayden Blacksmith added one more for Cross Lake, while Rowan Fenner and Cedrick Puffalt each scored for OCN to seal a 7–2 victory.
Sunday’s contest was much closer. The Storm and Islanders traded goals late in the first period before OCN broke things open in the second, scoring four unanswered goals — three of which came from Shaden Duliak, who completed the hat trick.
Cross Lake answered before the end of the period, as Jayden Blacksmith scored three straight goals of his own to make it a one-goal game at 5–4. The only goal of the third period came from OCN’s Mathis Bacon-Labbe, securing a 6–4 win for the Storm.
The Storm are off this weekend but will return to action next weekend when they welcome NCN to the GLMC.
