The Storm dropped both games this past weekend against second-place Norway House, a rare occurrence for the reigning KJHL champions, given how dominant they have been all season.
The Storm got off to a fast start in game one, scoring the first three goals. Hutton Foster opened the scoring in the first period, while Keestin Danielson and Jacey Melnyk added two more in the second. Norway House responded with three straight goals to tie the game 3–3 heading into the third.
In the final frame, both teams traded a pair of goals, sending the game to overtime tied at 5–5. Norway House’s Cash Clarkson played the hero, scoring the overtime winner to give the North Stars a hard-earned 6–5 victory. Saturday’s loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Storm.
Sunday’s contest saw the North Stars take control from start to finish. Norway House held a one-goal lead by the end of the first period and extended it to a three-goal advantage by the end of the second, leading 5–2. The Storm mounted a small push, but ultimately fell short as the North Stars secured a 7–4 win. The Storm’s four goals came from Hutton Foster and Cedrick Puffalt.
This weekend, the Storm will hit the road for back-to-back games against the Peguis Juniors.
