The OCN Storm kept up their winning ways this past weekend, picking up back-to-back victories over NCN.
The reigning KJHL champions are now riding an impressive seven-game win streak and will use the upcoming weekend to rest before their long-awaited home opener next week.
Saturday’s game was a nail-biter until the third period, when both Cedrick Puffalt and Hutton Foster scored back-to-back goals to secure a 2–0 win. A lot of credit goes to goaltender Logan Grenier, who stopped all 28 shots faced to record the Storm’s first shutout of the season.
Sunday’s matchup started off tightly contested. Hutton Foster and Jacey Melnyk each found the back of the net to give OCN an early lead, but NCN’s Bryce Celmons scored late in the first to make it 2–1. The second period is where the Storm took control, lighting the lamp three times to make it 5–1 heading into the third.
OCN continued to dominate in the final frame, adding three more goals to the tally. NCN’s Seth Zahayko added one late, but it wasn’t enough, as the Storm cruised to an 8–2 victory.
