Blizzard Blank Virden for First Shutout Win of the Season

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard picked up their first shutout win of the season over the weekend against division rival Virden.
The Blizz controlled the game from start to finish, picking apart the second-ranked Oil Capitals. The opening goal came from The Pas’ own Isaac Tomchak just past the ten-minute mark of the first period.

The second period belonged to forward Lucas Lorenz, who scored back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 3–0 heading into the third. Hunter Dingman sealed the deal with an empty-netter late in the game, making the final score 4–0.

A lot of credit goes to Blizzard netminder Kevin Podgurny, who not only earned the shutout but did so in spectacular fashion, stopping a staggering 45 shots on goal.

The Blizz are back in action tomorrow night, hosting division leader Dauphin. Puck drop is set for 7:00 P.M.
