Blizzard Win Triple Overtime Thriller to Capture Turnbull Cup

Grit. Perseverance. Determination.

Those are just a few words to describe the Northern Manitoba Blizzard's thrilling 2–1 triple-overtime victory over the Dauphin Kings in Game 7 of the Turnbull Cup Final yesterday.

After clawing their way back from a two-game deficit, the Kings carried all the momentum heading into the final matchup — but ultimately fell just short in what was an unforgettable series.

Alexandre Andre opened the scoring late in the first period before Dauphin's Declan Hoad evened things up in the later stages of the second. The two MGEU West Division rivals then battled through a tense third period and two full overtimes before Quincy Supprien sealed the win, tapping in the game-winner off a clean faceoff win deep in Dauphin territory.

Taye Timmerman delivered the performance of his life, stopping 55 of 56 shots. Kings goaltender Cole Sheffield also stood tall in the net, and the two were named co-winners of the MJHL Playoff MVP award in recognition of their stellar play.

With the win, Team NorMan have officially punched their ticket to next week's Centennial Cup tournament in Calgary. The Blizzard's first game is set for Thursday, May 8, against the OJHL's Trenton Golden Hawks.
