OCN Storm Extend Win Streak with Dominant Weekend Sweep

Make that five wins in a row for the OCN Storm,  who are coming off an impressive weekend against the 5th-seeded Cross Lake Islanders. In Saturday's contest, the Storm faced adversity after Cross Lake scored three back-to-back goals in both the first and second periods, giving the Islanders a three-goal cushion. The Storm did not get discouraged; they fired back and scored seven unanswered goals, making the final score 7-3. Storm captain Drew Peter earned a hat trick, and the rest of the goals were netted by Maddox Dominey, Keestin Danielson, Keilan Holland, and Mason Ndungo.

Sunday's showdown saw the Storm get off to a better start in the first. Laryn Chaboyer put the Storm on the board first by registering his fifth season goal; soon after, Ozy Atkinson and the Storm power play unit facilitated a power play goal to make it 2-0 heading into the second. In the early going of the second, Rowan Fenner added another one to the tally to make it a 3-0 game. Cross Lake finally answered the call with Wilfred McLeod's goal, although moments later, OCN's Logan Marr and Drew Peters closed out the second by adding two more to the state sheet. Drew Peters, Justin Etuk, and Rylan Fourre-Cook bumped the total even more for the Storm, scoring three goals. Bobby Orr-Roulette of Cross Lake attained one more goal, but it was too late to mount a comeback; the final score was 8-2 for the Storm.
The Storm will put their win streak to the ultimate test this weekend, welcoming number-one NCN to the GLMC. Puck drop on Friday is at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday's game will begin around 4:00 p.m.
