The Northern Manitoba Blizzard picked up two out of four points after competing against Winkler in a two-night double header this past weekend.
In the first fifteen minutes of Friday's game, Winkler scored two goals with one being short-handed.
Luckily newcomer Max Collyer buried one late in the first making it a 2-1 game.
Right after Collyer's goal, Winkler picked up a four-minute double minor penalty for high-sticking that carried on into the second.
Quincy Supprien and the Blizz took advantage and scored a power-play goal but not too long after, Winkler notched another one making it a 3-2 game.
Once the third period came around it was all about Winkler as they scored two unanswered goals, the final score was 5-2.
The first period of Saturday's game was pretty even-keeled, Winkler scored a power play goal in the first five minutes and Quincy Supprien was able to answer the bell to tie things up.
The second period eventually came around and things started to heat up for the Blizz as they scored four goals in ten minutes.
Loughlan McMullan and Liam Harpin scored their first goals of the season, Miguel Bouvier notched his eighth goal of the year and Cheechoo Lathlin bagged his sixth power-play goal.
The score was 5-1 up until Winkler scored their second power-play goal making it 5-2.
Winkler scored another power-play goal early in the third, making it 5-3, but after that, The Pas's own Isaac Tomchak racked up two back-to-back goals that solidified the lead for the Blizz.
With the score being 7-3, it looked like the game was over for Winkler.
That was the case up until the last seven minutes when Winkler scored three unanswered goals.
Luckily goaltender Taye Timmerman held on and the Blizz won 7-6.
The Northern Manitoba Blizzard are on the road this upcoming weekend, on Saturday they'll play against Virden and then on Sunday they'll go head-to-head against Waywayseecappo.
