The Blizz go 2-0 to Start the Season

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard are now 2-0 after a successful opening weekend in the MJHL. The Blizz played two back-to-back games against the Swan Valley Stampeders, Friday's game was in Swan and Saturday's game was played here in town.

Friday's game was an absolute barn burner as the Blizz picked up the win with only 17 seconds remaining. It was 3-1 for the Blizz going into the third and at one point the score was 5-2. Then late in the 3rd period, the Blizz let in two back-to-back power-play goals and a game-tying goal from The Stampeders Brayden Vopat. With all signs pointing to the game going to overtime, it was Keenan McNeill who scored the game-winner and picked up a win for the Blizzard.

Saturday's game was a much different tail for the Northern Manitoba Blizzard. After a quiet 1st period the Blizz capitalized and scored two goals in the first six minutes of the 2nd, with one of the goals coming from a power play opportunity. Swan responded with a power play goal near the fourteen-minute mark but not too long after the Blizz got themselves another one near the end of the 2nd period. The 3rd period was all about the Blizz as they scored two more and earned themselves a win in their home opener beating Swan 5-1.

The Blizz will now go on a three-game road trip starting on the 27th as they travel down to Portage to take on the Terriers.
