OCN Blizzard Pull Ahead Another Two Points

The OCN Blizzard continued to pull ahead in the standings after last night's game against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

The OCN Blizzard got right into the action in the first 20 minutes with 11 shots on the Waysecappo Wolverines goaltender Tresor Wotton and only 5 against Ethan Farrow during the first period. Neither team scored, however things really picked up in the next 20 minutes of play.

The Blizzard spent more time in the penalty box than the Wolverines during the second period, but that didn't stop them from keeping the puck away from their net. Captain Riley Zimmerman opened up scoring 8 minutes into the period and Darik Feasey scored in the final three minutes to end the period 2-0 for the Blizzard.

Darik Feasey scored his 7th goal as an OCN Blizzard early into the third just before the penalty action began.

It seems the Wolverines got rather violent between periods, as they served a slew of major penalties in the final 20 minutes of play. Penalties including a major for head contact, major fighting, match deliberate injury and 3 misconduct penalties on top of a few minor penalties. Kayden Sutherland and Michael Hlady were the only two Blizzard to serve majors during the final 20 minutes.

Alex Bernaur and Eduard Wruck capped off the night with a goal each only 44 seconds apart half way through the period to end the night 5-1 for the Blizzard. The team widened the gap to 3 points between the First place Blizzard at 65 points and second place Stampeders at 62. They get a much deserved break before hosting the Niverville Nighthawks next Friday March 10th.
