Town representatives attended the Association of Manitoba Municipalities spring conference a few weeks back and discussed the community's needs with the minister.

 

Mayor Andre Murphy shares details about those meetings.

 

"I guess they're just the key things that allowed us to actually talk to the Minister and talk about sort of the priorities of our community as well as others that are sort of connected to the minister.  And we really stressed the health care, public safety and infrastructure funding, like those are key for our community and we will continue advocating."

 

Murphy said he would meet with the Manitoba Municipalities Association today to discuss a new funding model for the RCMP.

 

He says this is an issue for the community and others in the province.

 

Following this week's council meeting, the Mayor also mentioned paving projects in The Pas, an assessment of the water treatment plant, and an 800,000-dollar maintenance project for the Winton pool.
