Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak and the Northern Health Region announced their joint commitment to eliminate anti-Indigenous racism in health care.
A statement from MKO explains Grand Chief Garrison Settee and NRHA CEO Helga Bryant met last week to formalize their pledge, and both organizations are currently working on a declaration that would outline their goals and objectives.
Settee says MKO will provide advice, guidance, and support to the NRHA regarding this issue.
He adds that the partnership will also inform the organization’s larger advocacy role to improve and transform health service programs for Northern First Nations citizens within the broader overall provincial and federal health systems.
