Local MP Niki Ashton recently sent a letter to the Minister of Indigenous Services addressing the broken funding promises made to Marcel Columb First Nation.

Ashton was contacted by people connected to the first nation that shared frustration over the fact that sixty percent of funding promised to the newly developed first nation has not flown through and as a result there is a major shortage of infrastructure and housing.

Ashton says that the first nation was created with much anticipation and the way that they being treated is unacceptable. She is committed to working with the people of the community and believes that they must be heard.

Marcel Colomb First Nation is located in Northern Manitoba in the Lynn Lake Area.
