Blizzard Trade Wins in Semi-Final Series

The Blizzard handed the Steinbach Pistons their first loss in the MJHL playoffs over the weekend. After going undefeated in a 4-0 series sweep against the Niverville Nighthawks, the Blizzard handed the Pistons their first loss despite playing one of the longest series in MJHL history.

Tomas Anderson continued to impress, only allowing in one goal through the whole 60 minutes on Friday. Emilien Charron scored the first goal for the Blizzard late into the first period, going unanswered until Parker Jasper took advantage of a power play and tied the game 1-1 with less than 5 minutes left of the game. Riley See prevented the game from going into overtime during the final minute, scoring the team's second goal and ending the night 2-1 for the Blizzard.

On Saturday The Pistons opened up scoring early into the first period before Marlen Edwards scored two, pulling ahead 2-1 in the first period. However the Steinbach Pistons kept the pressure on, with a complete reversal during the second period as Sam Zagari scored the lone Blizzard goal against the Pistons two goals. The game remained tied until the Trey Sauder scored with 6 minutes left on the clock, ending the night 5-4 for the Pistons and tying the series 1-1.

After a much deserved rest the Blizzard host the Pistons this Wednesday and Thursday at the Roy H Johnston Arena at 7 PM both nights. CJAR will be broadcasting both games immediately following the radio bingo games.
