Blizzard Claim Another 4 Points

The Blizzard extended their win streak to 10 games over the weekend with a pair of wins against outer division teams. On Friday, the Blizzard hosted the Portage Terriers, the last team to have beaten them 10 games prior. After an evenly matched first period with a goal for both teams, the Blizzard came at the Terriers with everything they could. Over one minute of play, Adam Belizil, Reeve Sukut and Riley See each got the puck past Terriers goaltender Gavin Renwick, who was immediately swapped out following the third goal less than 5 minutes into the second period. With Jayden Catellier now in net for the Terriers, they scored one goal against the Blizzard, A shorthanded goal from Parker Korman 10 minutes into the period. During the third period, Sebastian Hamming added some extra insurance with a goal halfway through. It looked like the Portage Terriers finally found the defense they were looking for in the final 3 minutes of play, as despite an empty net the Blizzard weren't able to take advantage with any additional goals as the night ended 5-3 for the Blizzard.

On Saturday the Blizzard were up against the Winnipeg Freeze, a team that features some former Blizzard on the roster. A much slower game than the previous night in terms of goals, but still an exciting one to watch. Quincy Supprien opened up scoring late into the third period. Once again the Blizzard proved to be the most disciplined team, with only two penalties against the Freeze's five. The Freeze served three of these penalties during the second period, although they managed to defend their net each time. Jayden Ward scored the lone freeze goal for the Freeze before Ethan Bibeau answered with a goal just over a minute and a half later. Griffen Ayote scored one more goal for the Blizzard in the final 4 minutes of the second period. After a scoreless third period, the night ended 3-1 for the Blizzard.

Sunday's game against the Dauphin Kings was again postponed due to an extreme snowstorm across Manitoba and will be played at a later date.

The Blizzard pull ahead once again to 4 points ahead of the Dauphin Kings in the MGEU West Division, while also catching up to 4 points behind the Virden Oil Capitals for first place.

The Blizzard look to extend their win streak to 11 games when they host the Winnipeg Blues this Friday at the Roy H Johnston Arena.
