Tough Weekend For The Blizzard

The Blizzard had a tough weekend at home against the Winnipeg Blues and Virden Oil Capitals. On Friday, The Blizzard took advantage of two power-play goals and Sam Zagari scored a late second-period goal allowing for a one-goal lead heading into the third period. An early third-period goal from Blues forward Cole Penner later forced overtime, allowing Carter Demelo to score the game-winning goal against the Blizzard.

On Saturday the Blizzard faced their division Rivals, The Virden Oil Capitals. Virden came hard at the Blizzard during the first period, scoring three goals and not allowing the Blizzard to get past Liam Bechthold. Oil Capitals Forward Nolan Chastko scored the final of three goals during the first period, and followed up with two more goals during the second period, earning him a hat trick. Despite the lead, the Blizzard pushed on as Miguel Bouvier scored a goal during the second and third periods, and Sam Zagari scored the final second-period goal. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Virden Oil Capitals kept the pressure on and ended the night 6-3 against The Blizzard.

This weekend The Blizzard stay in their division as they head to Dauphin to face the Kings and former Blizzard Ashton Paul. On Saturday the Blizzard return to the Roy H Johnston Arena as they host the Swan Valley Stampeders.
