Blizzard Topple One of The Top Teams and Get Revenge Against Another.

The Blizzard now sit in third place in the MGEU  West Division after a successful weekend on the ice.

On Saturday The Winkler Flyers were in town, making for an exciting night against one of the league's top teams.

Adam Belzil scored once during the first period followed by a goal from Miguel Bouvier during the second as the game headed into the final 20 with a 2-0 lead for the Blizzard.

During the third period Miguel Bouvier opened up scoring once again as the Flyers couldn't keep their team out of the penalty box. The visiting Flyers fought back with a pair of goals but it wasn't enough as the Blizzard took the night 3-2 on home ice.

On Sunday the Swan Valley Stampeders were back and The Blizzard fought hard to even the score after their previous meeting. Ashton Gallagher scored the lone first period goal before a nearly scoreless second period.

The fate of the game was decided during the final two minutes of the second period as Landon Gulutzan evened the scoring for a brief moment. A high sticking penalty for Aiden Taylor gave the Blizzard an edge, allowing Keenan McNeil to dump the tiebreaking goal with only 2 seconds left of the second period.

Both teams fought hard defensively during the final period as the puck wouldn't see a net for the rest of the game, wrapping up the night 2-1 for the Blizzard.

This Saturday the Steinbach Pistons are in town. You can catch the game live at the Roy H Johnston Arena or on 102.9 CJAR at 6:45PM game day.
