OCN Blizzard Hire A New Head Coach

The OCN Blizzard finally has their man. The Blizzard announced this morning that they have hired Matt Summers as their new head coach for the 2018-2019 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season.

Summers, who played for the Blizzard from 2003-2006, spent last season as a head coach in the USPHL Premier Division with the Tri City Ice Hawks. The team finished with a record of 5-37-2.

The Savage, Minnesota native tallied 285 points in 195 games while in OCN, before spending 11 seasons playing in the Central Hockey League and the Southern Professional Hockey League before hanging up the skates following the 2016-2017 season.

The Blizzard will open up the season at home against Swan Valley September 21st, though Summers will make his debut September 5th in an exhibition game against the SJHL’s La Ronge Ice Wolves.
