April is World Autism Month and mayor Herb Jaques has proclaimed April the second as Autism Awareness Day in The Town of The Pas.

 

Autism is neurological disorder that affects the way a person learns and communicates but autism can also provide people with a gift, the gift of seeing the world in a new way.

 

A statement from the town said with public awareness, education, and acceptance people on the spectrum can reach their full potential.

 

There are many successful people on the autism spectrum including actor Dan Aykroyd from Ghostbusters, Daryl Hanna from the Kill Bill Movies, and Los Angeles Kings Prospect, Brad Morrison.

 

Many important historic figures were thought to be on the spectrum as well, including Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton, and Mozart.
