Exploration Still a Priority for Hudbay

Exploration is still a priority for Hudbay.

The company recently released their fourth quarter report for 2018, and president Alan Hair told Arctic Radio News that ore production in Manitoba was in line with their plan.

Hair said that here in Manitoba Hudbay overcame operating challenges and through ongoing improvements, the Stall mill achieved record throughput in 2018.

He added that the total amount of ore milled in the province was lower when compared to the third quarter due to the planned closure of the Reed Mine.

Hudbay also reports that they spent 14 million dollars in 2018 on major airborne and ground surveys, as well as surface exploration drilling in the Flin Flon and Snow Lake areas.

The work in those areas was instrumental in identifying several base metal and gold targets slated to be tested this year.

The company says they plan to spend around four million dollars on in-mine exploration at Lalor near Snow Lake.
