Opaskwayak Cree Nation Members Vote in Favour of Proposed Changes to Their Election Code

Members of Opaskwayk Cree Nation have voted in favour of the proposed changes to their election code.

 

A referendum was held on November 28th and out of the 602 members that voted 364 people voted yes while 238 people voted no to the changes.

 

One of the biggest of these changes is that OCN Chief and Council will hold office for a two year term instead of a three year term. This change will take effect in the next general election.
