Randy Maych acting Fire Chief for the Town of The Pas recently spoke to Arctic Radio News to talk about forest fire safety.

Some of his forest fire prevention tips included, clearing your yard of clutter to eliminate fuel for fires, ensure that your cigarettes are completely extinguished before you dispose of them, and to avoid riding off road vehicles in grassy areas if they do not have a spark arrestor.

Forest fires can also be caused by open burns and Manych says you should always have a way to put out the fire in case it gets out of control.
