Pothole Safety Tips for Motorists

Spring has sprung and that means its pothole season which can present a risk to motorists.  Due to the climate of Manitoba, potholes are common as a result of cold weather elements and vehicles going over soft spots on the roads.

According to spokesperson Brian Smiley from Manitoba Public Insurance, one of the best things to do to avoid potholes is to slow down as you approach them as this will reduce the chances of damaging your vehicle. You can also change lanes in order to avoid potholes as long as you do so carefully.

Some of the damage that can occur to your vehicle when hitting a pot hole can include, Flattening tires, bending rims, and front end damage.

If you sustain damage to your vehicle as a result of a pot hole you can open a claim with Manitoba Public Insurance.
