Oscars Place Homeless Shelter Given a Three Month Lease Extension

The Oscars Place Homeless Shelter has been given a three month extension on their lease that will allow them to continue operating in their current building until June 30th. The building they are using is owned by The Pas Friendship Centre and Manitoba Housing negotiated with the centre to make this extension possible.

Stand Up For Oscars Place member Chad Zolinski says this extension has granted the group more flexibility to stay where they are and offer emergency overnight shelter services.

The Stand Up For Oscars Place Group is still planning to move the shelter and they will continue to search for a new building before the July 1st deadline.

Manitoba Housing submitted a conditional use application for a new building for the homeless shelter and there will be a public hearing regarding this application on February 12th.
