A resolution for a tipping fee incentive program for The Town of The Pas was carried at the town council meeting on Tuesday night. With a tipping incentive program the town will reimburse 50 percent of the cost of tipping fees after having a building demolished and rebuilt on the same property within two years of the date of the demolition. The contractor that’s demolishing and rebuilding on a property must apply for the 50 percent tipping rebate once all the conditions are met.
Deputy Mayor Brian Roque voted against the resolution because he did not like some wording in the procedural part of the resolution. The goal of this program is to help with the demolition of old buildings in The Pas and initiate new construction projects.
