Tom Lindsay the MLA for Flin Flon has sent letters to the premier of Manitoba and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urging both levels of government to act immediately to address the crisis in the town of Churchill and the North resulting in the closure of the OmniTrax rail line.
Lindsay stated in a news release that residents of Churchill and other Northern Communities are running short of supplies and the regions economy is in jeopardy. He went on to say that they can’t afford the high cost of flying in supplies and they can’t wait a year for the line to be repaired.
In The short Term the province and the federal government must help to offset the costs of delivering supplies by air.
