The Pas Fire Department was able to contain an early morning blaze this morning at the HBR rail yard after a pile of railway ties caught fire. The call was received around 5:30 and it took fire department four hours to reduce the fire to white smoke.
It is not known what caused the fire but Chief Fire Prevention Officer Randy Manych believes it may have been set on purpose.
The investigation into the cause is still underway.
