Northern Delegates to Meet in The Pas over Bay Line

This Friday representatives from communities across northern Manitoba are meeting in The Pas. The communities along the bayline formed the Northern Delegation with the goal to ensure the continuation of the shipping season. Mayor Jim Scott speaks on the importance of the bayline. "A couple of years ago, I  thought we had made a pretty good showing of how important it was we be a transportation hub, and if you take out the railroad, that's a very important part of that hub, and that, we just simply cannot allow that to happen. We need to find out how we can move this forward, one way is to put a letter of support in, so we can start meeting with the federal government on this, and that's what this is all about." This comes after OmniTrax announced in July the 2016 grain season had been cancelled. A memorandum of understanding has been drafted that seeks the support of the region, town council is in full agreement of the contents. The northern delegation will be holding the signing ceremony at the Kikiwak inn on Friday.
