Tonight is the nomination meeting of electors for the Opaskwayak Cree Nation. Kathy Whitehead a OCN member is encouraging more women to get involved in politics and run for council. "We the women, need to be at the political arena, and be at the table when policies are being made. We need to be empowered, not overpowered. Ekosi."
The meeting will be held at 6pm at the Kikiwak Inn. The election will take place on September 15th. On OCN Chief and council there are 7 councilor seats, 1 vice chief and 1 chief.
