Heart and Stroke Foundation

 The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba are looking for a future free of heart disease and stroke.

 

Sean Crawford, the director of community engagement explains through the money that they’re raising they are helping to promote research investing 300 million dollars in research over the next ten years for cutting edge research across the country.  He adds they placed 65 hundred automated external defibrillators in public places over the last few years just to give people a better chance of surviving if there is an incident.

 

The Foundation reports heart disease and stroke is a leading cause of death in Manitoba.  Each year approximately 21 hundred heart attacks occur in the province resulting in an estimated 485 deaths.
