New Agreement

Ministers Gord Mackintosh and Eric Robinson made an announcement at yesterday's opening ceremonies of the trappers festival.

 

Both Conservation and Water Stewardship Minister Gord Mackintosh and Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Minister Eric Robinson were in The Pas yesterday to kick off the Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival.  They made the announcement that a new agreement had been made between the Opaskwayak Cree Nation and the Manitoba Government. The new agreement is a 20 year joint management agreement to ensure land use and natural resource management in OCN’s tradition territory will continue to be a co-operative effort.

 

OCN Chief Michael Constant said The new agreement strengthens OCN’s inherent ties to the land.
