New data from Manitoba Public Insurance shows vehicle fatalities continue to decrease.
Brian Smiley from the MPI says many factors are causing fatalities to go down: Newer vehicles have additional air bags, back up cameras and other safety devices. There's also a reduced number of drivers with high risk behaviors, with Manitoba's penalties being amongst the highest in Canada.
Smiley says there were 85 road fatalities in 2013, and that as of October 2014, the province has seen 59.
