While Premier Greg Selinger was in The Pas last week he made an announcement at UCN which will provide enhanced access to trades training for students in the North.
Selinger said basically it is a partnership between University College of the North and Oscar Lathlin Collegiate in which students will be able to get more training at both the high school and college levels.
The announcement comes as a step in closing the gap between the need for trades training opportunities and the need for skilled trades persons in the North. Students can now start enrolling in programs including, heavy duty mechanics, power mechanics, carpentry, culinary arts, early childhood education and health care aide.
